Vehicle Electrification Technologies Consulting and Engineering
Commercialized and Custom Products
QTS has engineered, designed, developed and commercialized diagnostic products including the software focused on supporting High Voltage Battery and Energy Management systems on Electrified Vehicles (BATTSCAN and DC1000). Other products have been jointly developed with companies including All-Test Pro (AT33EV) and HEMDATA (CANID Pro). The information provided on this page provides representative examples of commercialized specialty diagnostic products created by QTS. Scroll or click to be taken to each product.
High Voltage Battery Analyzer for Hybrid Electric Vehicles
BATTSCAN goes beyond the analytics of the vehicle’s onboard diagnostic system to examine the High Voltage Battery Pack on a modular level. Unlike an ordinary scan tool, BATTSCAN will detect more than a whole-battery catastrophic failure. It digs deep into the vehicle’s CAN (Controller Area Network) data and interprets it to provide the technician with a report on the battery’s current state-of-health. BATTSCAN is a voice guided Diagnostic App, allowing any automotive technician to follow the drive instructions for performing the HV Battery State of Health test.
BATTSCAN's voice guidance and user experience were developed by its distributor FutureTech Auto, a collaborative partner of QTS. More information about BATTSCAN:
CAN ID Pro allows you to identify the source of a problem in a vehicle that would otherwise require a long and difficult diagnostic process. With CAN ID Pro you can isolate and monitor CAN messages to determine if messages have been received, and if a corresponding message was sent over the network. This eliminates the need to make multiple possible diagnoses and repairs before stumbling upon the correct one.
CAN ID Pro runs on Windows operating systems, and connects to the vehicle via wireless streamer. Additional software for expanded diagnostic capabilities will be available in later updates.
CAN ID Pro is being developed with HEM Data, collaborative partner of QTS. Anticipating availability for this product is year end 2020.

About the DC-1000: The DC-1000 Battery Discharger is a powerful tool to determine the health of a High Voltage Battery Pack, as well as for repairing and rebuilding them. When it is coupled with a High Voltage Charger and the DC-1000 Accessories, the technician can provide the customer with an expedient, low-cost, and high-ROI repair solution for their Hybrid or Electric Vehicle’s ailing Energy Management System.
A few things that can be done with the DC-1000 that is learned in NxtGen training:
Power Testing: Determine how much capacity of electricity, or energy, each individual battery module can hold
Energy Testing: Determine how fast you can utilize the energy in each module when it is needed under peak load
Balance and rebuild High Voltage batteries, or simply perform State of Health checks.
Accurately charge or discharge a whole battery, single modules, or groups of modules
Perform a cycling process on Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries to restore them to up to 95% of their original potential
Based on your findings, you can have an informed discussion with your customer about their options, both short and long term, and how you can help.
The DC-1000 Battery Discharger comes with a charger (power supply), Power and Energy Testing cables, NG testing adapters, wire guides (wire and cable management), and busbars.
